Saints sweep Doubleheader
The St. Paul Saints capped off a memorable night at CHS Field by finishing a doubleheader sweep of the Columbus Clippers with a 5-3 victory in Game 2. They did it by combining strong pitching with enough late offense to close the door on Columbus.
St. Paul leaned on timely hitting early while the pitching staff worked through traffic against a Clippers lineup that kept pressure on throughout the night. The Saints built a lead in the middle innings and managed to answer every Columbus push, preventing the visitors from ever fully swinging momentum in their favor. Defensively, St. Paul made several key plays behind the mound to help preserve the advantage.
The bullpen played a major role in securing the sweep, shutting down multiple scoring opportunities late in the game. Columbus threatened to climb back into it during the final innings, but the Saints stayed composed and executed in high-pressure situations. A combination of clutch outs and smart situational baseball helped St. Paul maintain control down the stretch.
By the final out, the Saints had completed an impressive day at the ballpark, taking both games of the twin bill and continuing to build momentum during the homestand. The sweep showcased the club’s depth across the roster, from reliable bullpen work to balanced offensive production. In front of the home crowd, St. Paul delivered one of its strongest all-around performances of the season.
